DEWITT COUNTY, Texas (RFD News) — Large deer populations are taking a toll on some Texas corn fields.
Farmer Benjamin Hahn says hundreds of deer have been feeding on his crop, causing losses of nearly 50 percent in some areas. He says the problem has persisted for decades.
Texas does not have a program specifically designed to eradicate deer, but farmers who can prove white-tailed deer are destroying crops can receive permission to remove them outside the normal hunting season.
