OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. (RFD News) — Oklahoma is recognizing longtime agriculture advocate Ron Justice as the latest inductee into the Oklahoma Agriculture Hall of Fame.
According to the Oklahoma Farm Bureau, Justice has spent much of his career working in extension, serving in the Oklahoma State Senate, and advocating for rural policy issues statewide. He says one thing he is most proud of is his agricultural roots.
“There’s not anything that I could be prouder of than being involved in agriculture,” Justice says. “It’s the basis of our economy in the state. Those are things I think it’s important to be proud of.”
Justice says his time in the legislature also reinforced the importance of speaking up and staying involved in your community.
“If people don’t step up, if they don’t become involved, they’re not going to be able to change things,” Justice warns. “It’s so important for them to step up, get involved, and share their opinions with other people, even if they may think that they’re in the minority at the time that they’re making those suggestions. It’s important for them to step up, share what their concerns are, and to stand up for what they truly believe in.”
Justice says he is honored to help represent agriculture and the cultural history of rural Oklahoma.
