BATON ROUGE, La. (RFD News) — LSU AgCenter sugarcane researchers recently traveled to Brazil to learn how the country is advancing sugarcane research and production.
Brazil produces nearly 40% of the world’s sugarcane, and researchers said the trip gave them a firsthand look at how public and private organizations work together to improve varieties, manage pests and advance crop research.
Researchers said the visit gave them new ideas to consider in Louisiana, including advances in breeding that could help speed the development of new sugarcane varieties.
