LORRAINE, Kan. (RFD News) — Summer deworming and implants can help producers add value to calves while improving herd performance.
Speaking at Moly Manufacturing’s Beef and Greet, Merck Animal Health Technical Service Manager Marshall Streeter said parasites reduce feed intake and nutrient absorption, making strategic deworming an important management tool.
He also said implants can increase weaning weights without reducing calf value and encouraged producers to work with their veterinarian or nutritionist to choose the right program.
