CLARKSVILLE, Ark. (RFD News) — Fresh blueberries are in season, but picking the best berries takes more than choosing the biggest ones.
Experts at the University of Arkansas Fruit Research Station say ripe blueberries should be completely blue on all sides and come off the plant easily. Berries with green or pink coloring should be left to ripen because they will not continue ripening after they’re picked.
They also recommend refrigerating blueberries as soon as possible after harvest and waiting to wash them until just before eating to help preserve quality.
