Pecan Orchard Helps Arkansas Family Farm Grow

The Young Farmers & Ranchers Achievement Award finalists says pecans have helped diversify the operation beyond traditional row crops.

SEARCY, Ark. (RFD News) — Jacob and Callie Feather are one of three finalists for this year’s Arkansas Young Farmers & Ranchers Achievement Award.

Jacob is a third-generation farmer who grows row crops and pecans, while Callie helps market the family’s pecan products through local retailers, online sales, and social media.

The Feathers said adding pecans has allowed them to expand beyond row crops while keeping the next generation at the heart of the operation. The couple’s four sons are actively involved on the farm as the family looks toward the future.
