Pro Farmer Crop Tour Gets Underway Across Corn Belt

More than 100 scouts are gathering field-level data across seven states to measure yield potential.

MIAMI COUNTY, Ohio (RFD News) — The annual Pro Farmer Crop Tour is underway as more than 100 scouts travel across the Corn Belt to measure this year’s yield potential.

Oliver Sloup with Blue Line Futures joined us on Monday’s Market Day Report to discuss conditions along the eastern leg of the tour.

In his conversation with RFD News, Sloup said corn in Miami County, Ohio, is looking decent after significant moisture over the past month. USDA estimated Ohio at 185 bushels per acre last year, with this year’s estimate about 5.5 bushels higher.

The tour will collect about 2,000 samples across seven states, providing a broader look at crop conditions and yield potential. Sloup said the results could influence market expectations if yields come in above or below current estimates.

Scouts are also watching Indiana closely following heavy rainfall. Sloup’s group will continue through Miami County before heading to Darke County near the Indiana state line.
