COVINGTON, La. (RFD News) — AgriSafe Network is raising awareness about suicide prevention and mental health in rural communities during National Suicide Prevention Month.
Behavioral Health Coordinator Olivia Bury joined us on Wednesday’s Market Day Report to discuss warning signs and how to help someone who may be struggling.
In her conversation with RFD News, Bury said changes in a person’s normal behavior can be a warning sign, including withdrawing from others or losing interest in usual activities. Bury says people concerned about someone should ask directly if they are thinking about suicide.
Those who are struggling but not in immediate danger can call or text 988 for support, while emergency services should be contacted if someone is in immediate danger.
