AUSTIN, TEXAS (RFD NEWS) — At Rodeo Austin, one of the world’s largest stock shows, a young exhibitor is sharing his story and setting new rodeo records.
Jett Hale has successfully competed in the show ring for years, and RFD Network’s Kirbe Schnoor caught up with the showman to talk about his new record-breaking steer as he retires from his rodeo career.
Hale saw his steer sell for an astonishing $750,000, and despite the massive success, he remains humble about his time participating in the event.
This competition holds more sentimental value for Hale than previous stock shows. For months, Hale has been battling cancer.
“I got diagnosed with leukemia in September, it’s been really hard the last few months. I was just really pushing myself to try to get better through those months,” Hale continued, “The first couple months of my treatment I wouldn’t get out of bed, it was terrible. I’ve gotten so much strength and stamina back, I’m really thankful for that. I’m very blessed that I’m able to do this.”
For Hale, the rodeo represents more than a competition, but a testament to how far he has come.
