LINCOLN, NEB. (RFD NEWS) — Nebraska farmers are returning home after meetings with lawmakers in Washington, where they emphasized key policy priorities aimed at supporting agriculture and strengthening the rural economy.
Jordan Dux with the Nebraska Farm Bureau (NEFB) led the delegation and joined us on Friday’s Market Day Report to recap the visit and the issues discussed on Capitol Hill.
In his interview with RFD News, Dux said one of the primary messages delivered to lawmakers was the need to pass a full five-year Farm Bill, stressing the importance of long-term certainty for producers.
He also discussed advocacy efforts surrounding legislation to allow nationwide, year-round sales of E15, highlighting its potential impact on fuel markets and farm input costs.
Dux addressed conversations related to Nebraska’s cattle industry, the state’s largest economic driver, including discussions around concerns tied to New World screwworm and broader livestock health risks.
He emphasized the importance of in-person engagement with policymakers in Washington, noting that direct conversations help reinforce the priorities and challenges facing agriculture.
Finally, Dux said producers felt their message was clearly heard during the meetings and stressed that continued engagement will be important moving forward.
