Dairy Advocates Share State Policy Concerns at Annual Meeting

The annual summit brings dairy advocates together to discuss emerging state issues and their potential impact on federal policy.

ARLINGTON, Va. (RFD News) — Dairy leaders from across the country gathered this week for the National Milk Producers Federation’s State Issues Summit to discuss policy challenges affecting producers at the state level.

Alan Bjerga with the National Milk Producers Federation joined us on Tuesday’s Market Day Report from the summit to discuss the issues receiving the most attention from dairy advocates.

In his conversation with RFD News, Bjerga said discussions included extended producer responsibility laws, state nutrition policies and the growing impact of data centers on agricultural land.

He said while every state faces different challenges, state policies can affect interstate commerce and often shape discussions at the federal level.
