Renewable Fuels Drive New Demand for U.S. Soybeans

Nebraska Soybean Board Vice Chairman Greg Anderson says expanding biodiesel production is creating new opportunities for soybean growers and adding value closer to the farm.

WASHINGTON, D.C. (RFD News) — Renewable fuels continue creating new demand for U.S. soybeans, with more farmers also using biodiesel on their own operations.

Greg Anderson, Vice Chairman of the Nebraska Soybean Board, says more fuel distributors are carrying biodiesel as demand from farmers continues to grow. He says he has successfully used the fuel year-round on his farm.

Anderson says soybean oil demand has grown dramatically, from about 1.5 billion pounds a year two decades ago to a projected 17.5 billion pounds this year.
