White House Suspends Duties on Moroccan Phosphate Fertilizer with Executive Order

Trump Administration officials say the executive order suspending duties on Moroccan phosphate could save U.S. farmers nearly $2 billion annually.

WASHINGTON, D.C. (RFD NEWS) — Agricultural groups are praising the latest move out of the White House to suspend countervailing duties on key fertilizer nutrients.

President Donald Trump signed an executive order lifting countervailing duties on phosphate fertilizers imported from Morocco.

The order will remain in effect through next year, and administration officials believe the move will save farmers nearly $2 billion annually.

Farm Bureau President Zippy Duvall applauded the decision, calling it a common-sense step that will bring relief to farmers when they need it most.

Deputy Agriculture Secretary Stephen Vaden says the U.S. Department of Agriculture will continue exploring additional ways to improve fertilizer availability, including increasing domestic fertilizer production.
