YUMA, Colo. (National Cattlemen’s Beef Assocation) — A Colorado cattle operation with roots dating back more than a century is continuing to grow while keeping its focus on family tradition and the future of the beef industry.
Noble Ranch, a fifth-generation operation located in the Sandhills of northeastern Colorado, spans roughly 20,000 acres of owned and leased land and is dedicated to raising Angus cattle.
Ryan Noble says the ranch’s story began in 1910 when his great-grandfather traveled from Kansas to eastern Colorado in search of opportunity.
“In 1910, my great-grandfather came right down the Republican River about 250 miles. Off he came to Colorado, and he rode the train to Yuma. He got off, he walks out eight and a half miles, saw this land, went back and filed a claim on it as a homestead.”
Noble says the operation has remained successful by staying grounded in strong family values and a practical business mindset.
“Our philosophy in the last several years has changed and we try to be a business first family. Our business philosophy is we’re going to say what we do, and then we do what we say, and we treat everybody like we want to be treated. We’re going to always look to expand and grow if it’s the right opportunity, if it makes sense. Everything on this ranch really needs to pull its own weight, it has to make a profit.”
Noble adds that the goal is to become more successful with each generation.
